Our Shop Ribbon and Lace
Among our best sellers are the ribbons and lace. We stock a multitude of colours and sizes of both and in the ribbon we have double satin, grossgrain, chiffon, christmas and other special occasion, wired, organza, and much, much more. In the lace we have knitting in lace, pure white or coloured lace, multi shaded, ruffled, elastic, wavey lace and much more again. The variety of colours to left and right upon entry is a pleasure to behold and makes a dull day seem that little bit brighter.
Tapestry and Sewing Threads
It is of course necessary to keep a stock of threads for sewing. The basic is always black and white and these are still the
best sellers, but these days there are so many wonderful shades of delicate materials that may need a stitch that it pays to have a wide selection of threads in the many shades available for the convenience of our customers. But because some people prefer to use sewing machines, we also stock threads for that as well. Then, for those that have hard wearing garments or need something just that bit more reliable, we go one step further and stock some extra strong threads!
Then we have the tapesrty threads in an absolute abundance of colours and shades! As anybody who does tapestry will tell you there are subtle differences in the many shades of blues, blacks and so on.
Wools and Patterns
Any shop calling itself a wool shop has to have a selection of wool to show the customer and we have a room full of just that. There are wools from names such as Sirdar, Stylecraft, Woolcraft, Bergere de France, Wendy, Peter Pan, and many more. Naturally we stock all the usual 2 ply, 3 ply 4 ply, aran, chunky, super chunky, mohair, alpacca, some pure wool, some 100% acrylic and in just about every shade and style we can. The back room is stocked from floor to ceiling! Of course this means that we have to have the patterns as well so that our customers can make the beautiful garments they dream of. We keep a pattern bar with books well stocked with a variety of patterns to suit just about all tastes as well as a selection of knitting and crocheting books.
But we have more than this. As you wonder around you will see that we have netting, wadding, stuffing, pins and needles, glues, zips, a huge array of buttons of all sizes, shapes and colours, motiffs, cards, jewelry, knitted items, crochetted items and so much more. Many of our customers say that it is like coming into an Alladins Cave as every visit seems to reveal something new!
We even have a table and chairs in the wool room for our elderly, disabled and just plain tired customers to sit and have a rest. And for those that bring youngsters in with them, we are happy to provide a few sheets of paper and a pencil to let them draw for a few minutes so that mum or dad can have a look about to see what they want.
And can I remind you that we have a knitting club every Wednesday evening and a crocheting club every friday evening except during December and January. All we ask is £3 towards the teas (which includes a fine piece) and in return we organise a minibus a couple of times every year to go down to Glasgow SECC to the large Spring and Christmas Craft Fair.
